my background
I bring more than 25 years of experience in the arts, with a Master's degree in Art History and a career spanning commercial galleries, corporate art collections, managing the Hbc art collection, arts leadership as President & CEO of Business for the Arts for 15 years, and board service, including the National Gallery of Canada foundation and the Musee d'art contemporain de Montreal foundation.
Over the years, I have developed trusted relationships with artists, curators, collectors and gallery owners - relationships that I value deeply and have learned much from.
I draw on this experience to help clients identify exceptional work, understand quality and value, navigate galleries and the secondary market, and make acquisitions with confidence.
Most importantly, I genuinely love collecting, and living with art in my life. I want the experience to feel exciting and engaging for those I work with as well - art shouldn't feel intimidating.

what should I budget for art?
There is no single "right" budget for collecting art. Exceptional work can be found at many price points - from a few thousand dollars to significant acquisitions in the six figures and beyond.
Part of my role is helping you understand what is possible within your budget, where value can be found, and when it may make sense to stretch for an exceptional work.
I look across galleries, artist studios, art fairs, auctions and the secondary market to identify the strongest opportunities. Sometimes that means discovering an emerging artist at an accessible price; other times it means recognizing an exceptional opportunity on the secondary market.
For more significant acquisitions, I can also provide market research, institutional context , collection strategy and longer-term philanthropic considerations.
The goal is not simply to spend more. It is to collect wisely - and build a collection of quality, meaning and lasting value.
